Job prospects for comp. sci./econ.?

I really like history and current events, along with math and the hard sciences. To me, it would be interesting to quantify trends, etc., as some kind of analyst (don't know what this career would be called). Are there worthwhile ventures along these lines? Would I be better off in something like operations research?

You will absolutely have very good job prospects if you double major in computer science and economics. Half of what economics is about is research/analysis, and computer science gives you a good tech/math background (which is highly marketable in both economics research jobs, general business/coporate world, and even if you want to go into government/more policy based research). There are tons of companies like Bloomberg that recruit for people with your exact background. Majoring in something like operations research would limit rather than broaden your career prospects. As a computer science/economics major, you can get operations research type jobs (but an operations research major would likely not be able to get the same types of jobs as those majoring in computer science and/or economics).
