Job Prospects in Duke BME?

I'm a Trinity student considering switching to Pratt. I like BME a lot, but I've seen many threads and articles discussing the poor salary/job prospects of BME students. Many articles also state that it's safer to major in something like ECE, since the job prospects are better and it's still perfectly possible to get a job in BME with an ECE degree.

Are these statements still true for Duke BME students, considering the prestige of their BME program?

Also, if I majored in Physics (my current plan) or ECE would it be possible for me to go to a good BME grad school, like Duke? Or would my chances be significantly reduced since I didn't major in BME?

(As a sidenote, would it be possible for me to major in Physics and minor in ECE, or is the minor only available to Pratt students like the Energy minor?)

BME prestige doesn’t matter if it is not that great of a degree. It is not that BME job prospects are not good, it is that there aren’t good BME jobs for BME bachelor holders. You either get shuffled into some sales, technical support rabbit hole at a biotech firm, or are forced to rely on your ECE or ME skills to land a job. (Assuming you haven’t swept up by the banking/consulting fever, or are a premed in the first place.)

You can’t minor in engineering as far I know. If you want an engineering job straight out of college, major in ECE or ME. If you want to study BME, get ECE or ME then go to BME graduate school.
