Job Search

What are some job search websites that contain a lot of entry level positions that are geared towards recent graduates? I'm having trouble finding jobs to apply for that aren't for people with a lot of work experience.

The most helpful websites that list entry level jobs are often industry-specific, so it would be helpful if you list your intended field.

Many colleges offer access to extensive job/internship databases through career planning offices.

it depends on what you consider entry level, are you looking for clerical jobs or something else specific to your major?

I’m an English and communications major, so I’m looking for jobs that desire people with my educational background. I want to work in major cities, such as New York and San Francisco.

Does your school have a career services department? If so, utilize their tools; they will help you a lot.

An English and Communications major basically means that you are able to think critically and write well but that you are not directly qualified for anything (don’t worry, basically every single BA degree in the world is the same deal, and most BS, BAS, BSE, etc. degrees still require new hires to go through extensive training before they’re useful). What I’m trying to say is that you need a focus. You can’t just go around applying to every job that’s open since you won’t be able to write a good cover letter for any of them.

Figure out what you want to do (just a general idea!) and start focusing your search. Hone your resume to make sure it shows you in your best light. Start cashing in with friends who owe you a favor. Look to friends, family members and acquaintances to see if they know of any job openings. Attend career fairs at your school and in your area.

That’s just the start of your search! Good luck.
