Job?

Does having a job have more weight than say being the Student Government President?

No. It’s all about how much time you put in to these things.

probably because student government only requires a meeting like 1 hour every so often.

Most of the time, no.

I say it does because I job requires way more responsibility than student government

It depends, if your grades are good then the job shows you can balance your time and gives you a boost while your president spot is also good. But if your grades go down, it shows that it is hard to balance and they would be more impressed by the president spot. Where you work also can make a good or bad impression.

I can’t imagine school activities being looked upon more favorably than getting an actual job. Actually taking responsibility for something, having actual things that you have to do, being involved in the local economy, paying taxes, etc>going to a little club every now and then.

It depends on your job, too. If you’re scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins, that’s not as ‘good’ as if you interned at a company for something…
