jobs and how to get them

how did u guys end up getting your jobs, if you have them. im having a tough time finding one, and i need some help.

Bump Bump It Up

I found mine on craiglist.

hm..i attended a model un conference yesterday where I participated in the Contemporary forms of slavery committee. I'm never searching for a job on the internet.

I'm having the same problem as you. It makes no sense either because one girl I know (total drug addict) just got hired at the restaurant I would like to work at but someone like me (just trying to earn some money to spend on things like SAT prep and an iPhone) can't get one. I think employers should look at school records more.

It's all about who you know. I got a job without even applying or interviewing at a doctor's office, serving as a recepitonist. Still have it and have gotten a raise since, plus will be working full time at some point this summer (they are flexible).

I suggest you check with parents, close adult friends, etc to find a good job. No sense wasting your life away in some McJob you don't want.

One of my classmates told me he got his job only because he's on probation (as is the case with the rest of his co-workers). I think it's totally unfair seeing as I'm a relatively good kid but apparently don't have the connections or whatnot to get a job (even at McD). Then again, weighing the consequences: probation/job, nonprobation/no job...

that's going to happen throughout life.

it's not what you know, it's who you know

connections are great. ask around... your friends (if they work and have openings at their workplace. it's a good deal because they can prob show you the ropes), relatives, etc. even while window shopping i find "HELP NEEDED" signs and you just walk in and ask for a job application. if they don't have a sign, walk in and ask anyways. doesn't hurt! usually big retail stores and restaurants are always hiring.

it especially helps if you have previous experience and the ability to work weekends/long hours. everyone usually wants to go out on the weekend, so they always need people to work then!

i got my first job at 14 at a local cafe because my sister had worked there and when she went away to college i took over for her. this past summer i wanted to get a second job to start raising money for college so i applied at a few coffeeshops and bookstores. the first place that called me for an interview was barnes and noble and ive been working there ever since. all the job searching ive ever done was just a matter of filling out applications and waiting.
