Jobs for Engineers

I was an electrical engineer, but apparently I'm not as good at circuit analysis or programming as I thought, and the stuff isn't as interesting to me anymore. I am more interested in mechanical/aerospace engineering, or chemical engineering. My question is do all mechanical and chemical engineers end up working in factories/manufacturing plants?? I say this because I've worked two summers at a paper mill and didn't like it. Which branch of engineering (AeroE, MechE, ChemE) spends the least amount of time working in the factories??

Aero i think…

a paper mill is a stinky nasty place and is not what all factories are like. I work in a factory and it is very clean and neat, it’s a biotech facility. Note, I spend maybe 20% of my time on the actual floor, the rest of my time is spent in a very nice office or in conference rooms which are also nice. The environment is not that of a paper mill… I’m ChemE.
