Hi everyone I would like to become a business major and I am looking for some experience. I realized that realistically finding an internship would be incredibly hard and I would be better off with finding a job. I was wondering where should i look to find a job that demonstrates responsibility and my other skills. I am 15 rn but will turn 16 in early december and I live in Jersey City but have easy access to Manhattan
A job is not the same as an internship. You are really young. At this stage, you should be doing things that interest you over the summer, or get a part-time job. Colleges don’t expect high schoolers to intern. Maybe you could do some job shadowing if you can find a professional who won’t mind having you around. You can demonstrate responsibility and other skills by babysitting, looking after pets for people away on vacation, becoming a camp counselor, helping an elderly neighbor, and many other ways. By all means, find something if you can, but internships usually go to college students.
Try to get any sort of job you can…I would try your local pool or camp. Next year if you have to work at McDonald’s that is fine because it is still a business! Worry about interships in college.
