Jobs in College Apps

Hey everyone!
So up until recently, I’ve been interning at some place (not going to specify for security reasons). I wasn’t a terrible employee, persay, but high school commitments did force me to call out many times (completely on me––I spread myself too thin for the past few months). The intern supervisor agreed to let me go early from the internship so I can focus on other matters, but she did say that it would not be a wise idea to use my internship there as a reference, as she said she would not necessarily give a favorable reference. If I were to include this internship on my college application, would they call the workplace and ask about me? I understand that AdComs feasibly don’t have time to do this to every student, but I suppose it’s better safe than sorry. I don’t want any mistakes I’ve made professionally end up affecting my college application process, so is it better to keep it off or do I have nothing to worry about?

They won’t call a former internship – if this was a job application and you were in the last handful of resumes being considered, they might. Not for a college application. You have nothing to worry about.
