A lot of banks have a GPA cutoff around 3.5 if I am not mistaken, though I it may depend on which of the targets you are at. Definitely try to bump up the GPA, it is really important in getting the interview.

Also don’t know if this is true for all banks, but I know that Tokyo essentially only looks at native Japanese speakers at mine. The other locations (HK and Singapore) are not like that though.

Sorry, I don’t know much about the Asia recruiting specifically. If you can get the interview, your GPA will become significantly less important, so at the events try to network as best you can.

I applied using the banks online applications, and also my school’s career center resume drop. They usually post deadlines on the career center site, but for SA US recruiting doesn’t happen until begining/mid January really. For Asia, I believe it usually begins in December. So don’t expect to hear back from them until January/February. Check career center postings, they generally will tell you when interviews will occur.

As for myself, I interned in NY and will start FT in London next year for the same bank (long story but the head is in London and wanted me there). I go to school in the states, target.

If you doubt that you will be offered internship NYC for any reason other than visa, you chances in Hong Kong won’t be any better. However, if you are an international student (with HK passport) studying in the US, then your chances (although still low) at getting an offer from HK would be much higher than for NYC (would is close to 0 in this economy for gpa < 3.4).
I don’t know about Seoul.

If I do get a summer internship in asia, will I still have a good chance to work full time back in the states (of course if i perform well), or would they want to keep me at the same place of my summer internship?
