I plan on going to graduate school for a PhD in pharmacology (and what's becoming more and more likely, a Master's in Public Health). But, I would like to work for a year before entering graduate to gain experience and save up money. I know grad schools in the sciences waive tuition and give you a stipend to live off of when you start, but I'd like to have a nest egg for an apartment or a car or just for savings.

I could deal with being a lab tech or something and making $12-17/hour because I'll probably be living at home during that period of time to really save as much as possible. I live near two renowned hospitals, a top university and a VA hospital. Could I get a job in one of the hospitals (preferably) with just a BS doing lab work?
