so i was thinking of getting a job because of how my class schedule was going to be next quarter (done with class by noon 4 days a week).
now i'm done by 4 three days a week, and noon the other two days.
so my question is, of those of you who HAVE on-campus jobs, where do you work? how flexible are the hours (is there any such thing as a 2 or 3 hour shift between classes...?) do you work weekends? has it been a crimp on your schedule?
i was looking specifically at parking or a front desk job. anybody work those and can give me the pros/cons?
and my biggest questions... do they care if i'm only planning to work this one quarter? do they expect you to work during finals week?
this is gonna be my first job so i sort of wanted to know what i'm getting into beforehand, and i don't want to jeopardize my grades (20 units spring quarter).
thanks in advance! :)

20 units and you still want to work?!?!

good luck.

yes on-campus jobs ARE VERY FLEXIBLE... meets your schedule

yes i work weekends or i will be soon

Yes, oncampus jobs through asucla require you to work during finals week -- evryody does

ask me more questions if you want... i live 5 doors down

don't work with 20 units... do it in the summer!

ah ha you live! :D
how were finals???

i didn't know you worked... or did i... or do you work? you're just going to work? ah i'll see you like... the next time you're in the hallway... hey wanna go eat? xD

yah 20 units... but 5 of them are the disney class xD
besides, i noticed fall quarter when i had colorguard (about the same commitment as working 15 hours a week) that when i had less free time, i was more productive.
all my free time this quarter has been put to absolutely no good use whatsoever.
i figure, less free time, more productivity, and money to boot...
idk. this could either be a really really good idea or a really really bad one.
sigh

some people do actually become more productive when they realize they don't have time to waste...

i'm thinking i'm one of those...
but i'm wondering if a job is the best way to fill my time. especially since i'm only looking for this one quarter.
why can't colorguard be all year round T-T

but seriously... thoughts? keep 'em coming.
new question: has anyone here QUIT a job? can you pick what day is your last day to work, if say you give them 2 week's notice??

Not sure if this is the norm...but my friend got a job at Rendezvous this quarter and quit a month later without the two weeks notice...the supervisor didn't seem to mind...

hmm sweet.
i just don't want to work finals week, i want to go home when i'm done on tuesday!! xD

why is color guard only fall quarter?
I've seen drill team practice recently...

colorguard performs with the marching band only for the football season siiiiigh
there's also such a thing as a winterguard, where colorguards do stuff AFTER football season (and without the band)... but we don't have that T-T
to my knowledge we don't have a drill team either o.O
we do have some members who spin on their own time...

We should...there was a drill team last year...

huh! never heard about them.
i was on my high school's drill team. except that's not really what we were...
