How important are job experiences such as working in a library, coffee shop, or gym on applications to med school?

Uhhh… not at all? The big three being research, volunteering, and clinical experience.

I would list mine. Emphasize the responsibilities involved.

Yes list them if you have any but if you want to get a job just for something to put on your app you’d be better off doing one of the big 3. Though money is always good. But medschool wise doing research or shadowing/volunteering at a healthcare center would benefit your application more.

Never refuse a job offer! Have nothing to do with Med. School, just in general. However, seek opportunities to get involved in shadowing/volunteering/research, as everybody is saying.

It’s worth one of your 16 EC slots on the AMCAS but not what I would call a premium EC.

How “bad” it would be if you do not use up all 16 EC slots?

For example, if a student has been participating in a specific club continuously for 4 years, he may put all (say, 7) activites related to this club in one EC slot. Unless he joined 16 clubs/research labs/charity organization in 4 years, it is hardly possible for him to come up with 16 EC items, since each EC may actiually consist of, say, half a dozen activities.

im pretty sure most people dont fill out all the slots

And most people don’t get accepted.

No I’m kidding.
