Joey Cheek got in?

Olmpic 500 M speedskating Gold medalist Cheek applied for Stanford. Does anyone know if he got in?

like he wouldn't get in

Harvard said no.

In my mind, he wouldn't add that much to the school academically...so I would hope not.

but he would represent the university very well

Wow, I would think he'd get in. He has gold medals from the Olympics! Then again, I guess that's not everything.

He would, but he's also 26, potentially rooming with an 18-year-old fresh out of a suburban high school. We don't know if he had good grades or not. That's why bringing celebrities to campus is problematic.

Why was admission tougher than ever this year at the nation's top colleges? Probably because this was the year that Olympic speedskater-turned-Darfur-activist Joey Cheek applied. Sorry, kids -- your Key Club vice presidency kind of paled in comparison.

"Joey Cheek Goes to College" and we get to hear all about it on MTV.
Where'd he get in? "Yale, Princeton, Columbia, NYU, Georgetown, Stanford, Duke and North Carolina," the 26-year-old told us. But Cheek -- who was famously turned down by Harvard for early admission just months before he won gold and silver and donated his earnings to Darfur charities -- wouldn't say where he's going: He's signed with MTV's cable and online channel MTVU to chronicle his decision-making in a new reality series. "Joey Cheek Goes to College" will run for six episodes in the fall, with a "sneak preview" premiere May 1 -- the day after he speaks at a rally on the Mall against Sudanese genocide.

Will Cheek's girlfriend, GW junior Eleanor Collins , appear on the show? "I said of course she's got to be on it, you can't have me without Eleanor. She reluctantly said yes."

Impressive lineup of schools -- did he get rejected anywhere ? "Well, I still never got Harvard."
