hello everyone, i am an international student going to UW this fall. I have always loved jogging, but i wonder whether it is possible to jog at UW because of the cold weather?

I think you will enjoy jogging in Seattle very much. The Burke-Gilman Trail runs right through UW. See the map at the below link. Note on the map UW is at the bottom right just east of the main freeway 5.

The trail is really great for biking too.

In addition Green Lake is a short bus ride away and has a trail around it. See link…

If it gets too rainy or cold I believe there is an indoor running track at the IMA, check it out somewhere on the UW website.

Happy jogging!

Ballardite thank you for your reply. Glab to hear about the trail, however, what worries me is the wheather… i heard that it always rains and is always cold? and what is IMA?

It seems to me like you are worrying about the weather a little too much. While we usually get a little snow each year, its not that big of a deal. Seattle gets less rain than a lot of other US cities ([Study Reveals Top 10 Wettest U.S. Cities | LiveScience](Study Reveals Top 10 Wettest U.S. Cities | Live Science)). If its 45 and overcast, its great weather for a jog.

It is not always cold and rainy. Yes, it is cooler than Indonesia, but I think the cooler weather here would be preferable for jogging. And, if you really don’t like cold weather you probably wouldn’t want to be at any of the Ivy League schools. I believe the winter weather at all of them is much much colder than Seattle.

The IMA is the UW sports facility for students and faculty. If you go to the UW website at the top right just type “IMA” in search and it will pop up. It does have an indoor running track.

IMA is awesome! I went in there with a friend currently attending UW. You should also go jogging around Lake Washington around Seaward Park that area is really nice! You always see people jogging, bicyling, bird watching, and whatnot.
