Any thoughts on John Carroll University? Anyone familiar with their leadership or honors program? How are they with merit aid? Stats: ACT 33; NMS-commended; 500 hours community service, lots of leadership/EC

DD applied and was accepted at JCU. They were pretty generous with merit dollars. It is a pretty campus and very convenient to just about anything you might want or need. I am pretty sure she will not be attending as she seems to be more attracted to the rural/small town campuses. She did visit twice and and deemed it a good school.

Thank you Carasmom! I did send you a PM message with a few questions.

Casey1 - I sent you a response, but can not tell if it went out. Did you receive it?

I don’t know any specifics, but one of my D’s high school classmates is at JCU. I would imagine she had to have received good aid, as her family is not poor but wouldn’t be in a position to pay full fare, either. She was a strong student but not as good as the stats you cite, so I would imagine the merit might be good … especially for a student from a parochial school, if that is the case (it was for the young woman I know).

I know a young man there, as well, but he was a recruited athlete & the family has a lot of money, so can’t speak to any of the financial aspects.

Both young people like the school a lot.

My sister attended JCU 30 years ago. She earned a business degree and went on to a very successful career. She liked JCU but found the social atmosphere a bit boring. It has a very small campus in a suburban area.

My own daughter did an overnight visit there and was offered generous aid as a NM scholar. She liked the school but felt it was too small for her.
