<p>What is this?? Do a lot of people get this? The letter says we get to meet each other, but that doesn't answer any questions...</p>
<p>There is a website for the scholars office that explains what it's about. My son received this and is a first year. It's just basically a small perc for the top of their applicant pool, students they hope might go on to win fellowships in future years. They put on a lot of speakers and events for the scholars (I don't know how many John Jays there are, but all the various scholar programs add up to about 100 out of each class.) The part he's enjoyed so far are the free tickets to plays and other events in the city. He's gone to two Broadway plays courtesy of Columbia and the scholars program this semester.
There are introductory sessions for the scholars at both admit weekend and first year orientation.</p>
