Hi,

I posted this on the Duke board.

I was accepted to both these programs. I know Duke is ranked #2, JHU ranked #1 in terms of the biomedical engineering department.

Does anyone have any tips on how I should go about making my decision on this issue?

Both are great places..

I would also like to know, although Duke rejected me.

I am going to JHU BME, Duke rejected me although I did a Research Paper Characterization of 6-His-Meco29kl Methyltransferase, University of Moscow

1) you could also factor in other things that you look for in a college (e.g. quality of life, size of school, setting, etc)
2) what specific areas are you interested in, under the scope of "BME"? what sort of research are you interested in?
3) post-grad goals. do you intend to go to med school or grad school? how does this fit in with your long-term career/life plans?

probably, visiting both schools would also help to give you a better idea of which one you want to go to. while visiting, you could examine the specifics of each program (e.g. what are their respective focuses, how are they oriented, what sort of modes of learning do they employ (e.g. for JHU it is pretty hands-on, lots of collaboration, plenty of chances to work with upperclassmen, grad students, professors, etc), things like that)

Am I the only girl who got into BME?

I got in too, I am a girl. Are you definetly going to enroll?

bump..... . . . . .

I got into BME also at Johns Hopkins. I am debating wheteher to go in the HPME program at Northwestern. Also did anyone get any scholarship in BME program

I got in to the BME prog, im a girl... i am def going... no scholarships cuz im not that cool i guess

I have not recieved some of my finaid packets yet so i'm still undecided. But as of right now my top choices are:
1. Berkeley
2. JHU (BME)
3. Brandeis ($33,000/yr)
4. Emory
5. USC

How competitive is JHU BME? How are the students like? What is the f/m ratio? I really need to campus visit!!

i heard only 150 students are accepted to JHU BME
