So I was thinking of applying to Johns Hopkins and one of the things I love about it is that it's in a city. However, I was wondering where it's really located and what it's like to live there. I'm completely unfamiliar with Baltimore - is the university in a very urban setting? Are there restaurants/activities you can easily walk to, etc? I've heard some people say they've hated the city but for a student, is it a good/fun place to live? Thanks.

Hopkins has several campuses within the city (Homewood, Peabody, JHMI etc). Almost all of the undergraduate classes are on the Homewood Campus. It is a beautiful self-contained campus about 2 miles north of the Inner Harbor. It is in a neighborhood called Charles Village and there are restaurants and some shops within walking distance. There is good public transportation that one can use to access the rest of the city. If you google the address 3400 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218, you can see it on a map to get an idea. The undergraduate admissions office also has a virtual online tour you can take to get an idea.
