John's Hopkins Chances

I’ll be applying next year- probably ED even if it doesn’t have any weight on the final decision.

SAT: 2140 (760M, 730CR, 650W)
ACT: 34 (33R, 34M, 34M, 35S)
SAT(II): 750M, 690 Chem

GPA: 3.7 unweighted
GPA(W): 4.4 weighted

Senior Course Load: Spanish 6 (Already taken AP), AP Physics C, AP English Language/Seminar, AP Government, AP Calculus AB, Web Design

I’ve taken pretty much every advanced class my school has- at least that has to do with Math or Science. I’m looking to study Comp Sci at JHU, so I haven’t worried too much about different foreign languages or English except for AP Spanish and Lang next year.

AP Scores: 4(Bio, Euro), 5(Chem,APUSH), 3(Spanish)

Volunteer/ECs: 100+ hours at CHKD (local children’s hospital), 100+ hours at local soup kitchen, Internship at NASA Langley where I’m writing an algorithm to discover voids in carbon-fiber sheets.

Not sure about my class ranking, my school doesn’t necessarily give it out, but I think I’m in the top 5%.

I think your ACT score is good and your UW gpa is a little on the low side. Aso, your internship is very good, but you should probably have some more important ECs to show depth. I would say JHU is a mid reach. Chance me back?

JHU ED: High match
JHU RD: Reach

@kobe24mamba Alright thanks, I’ll check over yours. Yeah I didn’t list everything- or anything about sports. Wasn’t thinking about them when I wrote this. I’ve made the All-State team for Soccer last year, and have played Varsity for 3 years in HS (4 in Senior year)

Looks like it’s 10% admit rate for RD and 30% for ED. Your UW GPA is on the low side but I really like your Carbon Fiber research work, sounds like something really interesting. The school might say that applying ED has no impact on your chances of being admitted but draw your own conclusions

Those ECs are pretty good. JHU ED would probably be a high match/low reach. Please chance me when you get the chance!
