Johns Hopkins early decision!

Just thought I'd start this thread for next year's perspective applicants (myself included).

Why Hopkins?

BME?

Oh yeah! Let’s get this started!!! Why Hopkins? To many reasons why its AWESOME. And no BME for me I don’t like math all that much.

Hello people! Im thinking of BME ED for class of 2018. Im international student (from the land of fin :P)

Why hopkins? Its just awesome. I love hopkins. So. Much.

-strong in nearly every major (not only science)
-excellent research opportunities
-situated in the baltimore-dc corridore
-awesome campus

tooooo many things

Hopkins just seems ideal for me. It’s been my dream school forever!! It’s almost irrational just how much I want to attend.

I wanna do ed

Sent from my HTC PH39100 using CC

Sameee. I really hope it helps my chances. Do you think applying BME would lessen my chances of being admitted?

No not really as it is not that highly competitive and how about premed

Sent from my HTC PH39100 using CC

I really hope not. If it doesn’t hurt, I may just not specify a major before applying

ED applicant next year !!!
Definitely going for BME.

karatekid, BME is a separate answer.

When you apply Early Decision, you get your answer on whether you’ve been admitted in one e-mail and whether you got into BME in another e-mail. For example, a friend of mine applied ED for BME this year and got into Hopkins but not the BME program.

Austin, I know that. I meant I may not specify just for the general college if I decide not to try BME

I’m applying early decision next year!! No BME though…political science or international studies!

Have any of you actually visited Baltimore?

Hi everyone, I am a junior and want to apply as ED next year. Please tell me what are my chances of getting into JHU also please do rd

SAT:2250 I don’t remember the exact numbers as my mom has the password and does not divulge it to even me.

Unweighted GPA is 3.8 Took AP Bio and revived a 4 and I am taking 4 this year: Ap Enviro, Us, Chem and Lang. SAT II BIO 740

I have done some community services in a youth organization racked up 80 plus hours form 9th grade and have volunteered in a hospital for 40 plus hours. I learn Vocal Indian music from when I was 5 and won an award in 9th grade. I have also gave out many recitals in ky temple. I am the editor of my school newspaper and play varsity tennis from 11th grade, NHS member, won an award for volunteer services, also in clubs such as unity in diversity in which I hope to be vice president, history club which I hope to have a position in next year and math club. I am also in Science Olympaid and Masterminds, which is like College bowl.

Thanks for your time

Prob as good a chance as any (which isn’t saying much). You have nothing glaringly lacking on the surface, but who knows what the adcoms will think of your essay and recs??

Hopkins is on my Ds top ten list, so I’ll jump in on this thread.

Why Hopkins? She’s looking for an urban campus with a strong premed advising program.

BME? No, Mathematics, but I imagine many of her classes would cross over with BME students.

Visited? Yes, she’s been to Baltimore, but not the campus. She’s doing an internship at the NIH on the Bayview campus this summer and will be living in the city. We’ll visit the undergrad campus then and be happy to share our experiences with you guys who haven’t had a chance to see the school yet.

Good luck to you all!

Bump!

This shall not die!

Bump! Do you guys know if Hopkins will be releasing a preview of its essay questions (like UChicago)?

I’m considering ED, although I don’t think I’ll end up doing it. I’m legacy here, so it’s tempting, but as of now it’s my 3rd choice.

I want to go for the neuroscience major, as well as the french program.
Definitely applying early decision this year.

I visited the school a couple weeks ago and loved that everyone was so down to earth.
The Homewood campus is very clean and beautiful… It’s definitely different from the campuses with gothic architecture… more colonial and small. The insides of the buildings are also stunning and I felt very comfortable there.
What really sold me, though, was my tour guide. He was so passionate and the tour was so interesting, and I couldn’t believe someone loved their school that much. Really getting the intimate details of the school made me fall in love with JHU ten times more, and I learned so much beyond what I have found online.
I heard at least ten times that the people aren’t cut-throat, and very collaborative. All of the people I met were so down to earth. My tour guide was so smart and funny, and he told me that there are a lot of parties, and (as a neuroscience major) the workload is definitely manageable enough to also have fun.
While we had to go through some rough neighborhoods, the campus is extremely safe, from what the tour guide told us. And I heard Baltimore is beautiful in a lot of parts and has a ton of hidden gems.

I can’t imagine myself going anywhere else.
