Now its the beginning of a long weekend.

Wow, a lot to respond to here … some of the posts may be a bit old, but I still feel a response is necessary. Here we go:

I think I may have answered this already. ED applicants would have already been contacted by e-mail if their application is incomplete. Our Operations staff has spent the last three weeks contacting all ED applicants to complete their applications. If you were not contacted then your application is complete.

There are three decisions a student can receive during the ED round of reviews.
(1) Admit - woo hoo.
(2) Defer - student’s application will be re-reviewed during the RD round.
(3) Deny - the application cycle is over, and the student can not re-apply for RD.

About defer … melin720 wrote that your son should call to ask why he was deferred. NO HE SHOULD NOT. Our Admissions Committee does not discuss the reasons behind our decisions as admissions decisions are confidential. Additionally, a phone call to discuss options for deferred applicants will not be accepted. I will post information for Deferred applicants on the Insider Blog and Hopkins Forums that provides full details on what ED deferred students can and can not do.

You are wrong. The November monthly email went to all of our prospects (over 100,000 people). Our prospect and applicant databases are completely separate. The email does not indicate anything … we don’t do such things. Our admissions decisions are not final until the day before we release notifications.

Pretty much all Hopkins students take 5 courses a semester.

I responded to that question here:

Thank you Mr. Creasy for the clarification. I reread the insider on the policy regarding admission decisions being a confidential process and understand that is a sound policy. Wishing you and the admissions staff a pleasant and joyful holiday season. May fortune smile on all of you on Tuesday.

I sort of have massive amounts of homework due Tuesday. But I just don’t have it in me to do anything but watch Korean Drama’s. LOL

I have a huge chemistry test the next day, AND I have to make sure my team is ready for an upcoming science competition, so I can’t even just stay home the next day. I need a time machine. (can any of you future engineering students think of something?)

to madchckd: i feel the same way!! =) wat do u watch? i recently watched Will it Snow for Christmas =)

I was just recently introduced to IRIS. It’s SOOOO good. It has like conspiracy, betrayal, suspense, action, and the ever present love triangle’s of Korean Drama’s. Haha. Plus the soundtrack of the drama has some amazing songs. It’s seriously keeping me up all night. I can’t stop watching it.

2 more days left!!!
lol i’m going to watch IRIS over the summer XD it seems really long

Thanks for posting all that AdmissionsDaniel… I haven’t been able to open hopkins.typead.com for the past 3 or 4 weeks!!! Anyone else having the same problem?

oh btw… are there any stats by country for admissions… I am a US permanent resident but have never lived inside the US or any english speaking country for a long time (just received the green card in the summer) would I be compared more to the US students or to the international students (let’s just say, english ain’t my favorite subject)?

made it through most of the whole weekend without checking cc! almost 50 hours!

two days!!
and going back up a few comments, i just have to say…will it snow on christmas is what’s keeping me away from doing all my other apps!

I don’t know what I’ll be doing till 7pm tuesday, I’m so nervous…

Let me just say this—the homework is NOT doing a very good job at distracting me from counting down until 7 PM, Dec. 15.

My counsiler told me that I have a better shot at getting into Hopkins if I don’t put in pre-med as my major. On my common app i put undecided and said my academic interests were bio, humanities, and political science. I also sent them a few articles that I have published. Is she right does this really make my chances better?

sorry for changing the topic good luck to all you guys

She also told me the jhu really wants english & humanities majors

Honestly, I doubt it. I have received the general impression from these blogs and the JHU website that the majority of undergraduates at Hopkins are not, in fact, pre-med. I, however, fully intend to be, and made it very clear on my supplement essay about my choice to major in Biology. I certainly hope that your counselor is wrong, or I might be in trouble!

A JHU Rep. visited my school, and someone asked a similar question. He pretty much said that it doesn’t necessarily do anything to your chances, but at the same time, he sorta implied that Humanities Majors might have a better chance. At least, that’s what I thought he implied. The visit was a while ago though, so I’m not entirely sure I remember it correctly. What I do distinctly remember is his insistence that applicants should not take this rumor to heart and put down something like International Relations or Writing Seminars, if they fully intend to matriculate and switch over to Biology. Nevertheless, if you’ve published several articles, I’m sure you stand an amazing chance at being let in. Regardless of what you plan to major in.

1 Day, 18 Hours, 54 Minutes.

Good Luck All!

Yeah, I forgot to ask. What are your articles about? Is there any way I could find them online?
