Johns Hopkins ED Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

How does everyone feel

@ricegum Apprehensive, but still excited. It’s crazy that we’ll know if we’ll be at Hopkins for the next 4 years in under two weeks.

Has anyone here received a letter of intent ?

@VAmomoffour Do you mean a likely letter? Those are usually only sent during RD cycles to recruited athletes, with occasional exceptions for children of celebrities.

Likely letters do go out to recruited athletes during the ED round and most (I would imagine) have already been sent. Ideally they go out to an athlete after a verbal commitment and are received prior to the ED application deadline (November 1st) so that the recruit can apply ED. If there is space on the team, and there is an excellent academic and athletic applicant still around and wanting to apply during the RD round, it is possible that such letters could be sent during the RD round as well. But their primary use is for recruiting during the ED phase. Such letters are issued by admissions only, but at the request of the coach. The exact number of LL available to each coach may depend on the sport and needs of the program. The applicants receiving LLs are high achievers both athletically and academically.

@bestACTscore First, you don’t really need a “chance me,” since you’re going to find out from the actual committee in about a week. But, as I get how this is stressful, I’ll do my best. So, stats-wise, you’re within the middle 50%. Nothing that will damage your chances or improve them. I’m worried about the seeming lack of meaningful ECs, but without further details, I can’t fairly chance you. Good luck!

what country?

@thebestACTscore What do you mean? I’m from the US. And why’d you delete your post?

Hey guys,
I am really nervous and want to get in. I applied ED to the DMP program for international affairs, and my scores aren’t all that great (my username is ironic). I can’t wait till december 15th, but i will be very sad if i don’t make it. Good luck guys!

I am also from the US. The DMP stands for Direct Matriculation Program which means i will earn my bachelors and masters in five year. JHU has the DMP for international affairs. Im just worried bc y’all are all super accredited STEM kids and it is making me nervous!! And what post did i delete??? @WCEdmonds

@thebestACTscore I was talking about the “chance me” post you posted last night that I responded to above that’s now gone. Anyway, the DMP sounds really cool. And Hopkins totally likes non-STEM people too. You’re certainly not out of the running with your scores. Good luck, again!

@thebestACTscore i hate you

@zancarelipy why do you hate him?

@ricegum good

@zancarelipy stop messaging me telling me to take my life and commenting mean things on all my college threads. I never did anything to you! you make me cry every night bc you are telling me i will never get into college and i might as well either get a job at the gas station now or just kill myself! and thanks

Umm what?

Anyone know what time of day JHU ED decisions come out on the 15th? What have they done in the past? Any chance they will release early? And good luck everyone!

You should have gotten an email that says they come out at 3 PM EST. As of now, I do not see a reason why they should come out early. Good luck!

@WCEdmonds omg… you post too much

@bockbockpork Well, um, sorry. I only post if someone mentions me or asks a question I can help answer! Sorry it’s too much for you, though.
