Rec Letters:
They should be pretty good. I also have one from my violin teacher who has known me for about 5 years.

Essays:
Excellent. Had them reviewed. People seemed to like it a lot.

Weaknesses: Definitely my gpa and SAT scores. Asian lol

Strengths: I guess I have a rising trend in my gpa from freshman year to my junior year.

I appreciate the honesty and I know that it is an extreme reach for me. But fingers crossed.

Thanks again and let me know if I am missing anything.

I’m sorry to say this but because you have both a low GPA and SAT score for JH, I don’t think getting accepted is going to be realistic. You have been taking a lot of hard classes, which is good so that could cushion your GPA a little (not a lot), but your test scores are too low, especially because you aren’t an URM. You could have maybe worked around that if you had a simply outstanding and unique EC, but it seems that your ECs are pretty standard. What state are you from? Are you applying to other colleges? At the end of the day, it is your choice where to apply and it is up to the admissions officers on who they accept, but as you said yourself, JH is a huge reach.

Thanks for taking time out to respond. I appreciate it. I’m from PA. I’m applying to Northeastern, Drexel, Pitt, and Lehigh. Again, thanks for the honest response.

No problem! What do you want to major in? What drew you to JH? I think focusing your attention on finding schools that have similar programs or similar features to JH but are more realistic would be a better game plan. In terms of GPA/SAT, you have a pretty good SAT scores for the colleges you want to apply to (it is a low for Northeastern and Lehigh) but you might have to compensate even more because of your GPA. Have you considered retaking the SAT again? You may be deferred from some universities until they see some more grades so also make sure to focus on maintaining very good grades this semester.

I’ve already taken the SATs 3 times. I just can’t seem to improve. I want to major in Med or Business. I just applied to JH just as a reach school hoping that I had a slight chance. Haha. I’m just kind of mad at myself for not being such a good student freshman and sophomore year. But my junior year went well and my senior year is going well too. Oh well. Thanks for helping(lol, that sounded sarcastic)

I agree, maybe ED was a bad choice. Raising your SAT to 2300+ may have compensated for your weak GPA with good essays. Who knows though, you may end up accepted. I would call you a reach to high reach.
