I am a rising junior, and I am not sure if I should apply to / go to Johns Hopkins Engineering Innovation. I am extremely STEM oriented, and have been doing FIRST Robotics since 3rd grade. I want to major in mechanical engineering and/or computer science in college. Has anybody done this program, and what did you think of it? I would be residential, and I am really just unsure if I want to go due to the intensity, and I don’t know if I would want to spend my summer staying up super late doing lab reports… Thanks so much in advance
I was thinking about doing it as well. But I don’t want to spend my summer with all of that. I was also thinking about applying to the Ross Mathematics program, but decided not to because it would take up SO MUCH of my summer! How long is it? I sent them an email a while back about reqs, but I am still quite unsure if I want to apply for it.
Good luck to you!
I just got accepted by EI, but Not sure whether I should enroll. Is this program competitive compared to the other science & engineering program?
My son did EI last summer. We live in Virginia, 20 min from one of the Maryland non-residential locations.
He did well in the class and enjoyed it, but he didn’t feel it was worth the price. I do think it helped on his college applications, though.
One bit of advice my son offers is to make sure you’ve already taken Chemistry and Physics. Especially Physics.
He said the workload wasn’t too heavy, as long as you manage your time wisely. If you’ve already been successful taking AP classes, the workload is nothing compared to that.
