I need some info on the Johns Hopkins weight room (for non athletes). I read on a message board that the weight room has no accommodations for serious lifters and actually does not even allow students to do olympic lifts, deadlifts, squats (not using the smith machine), etc... Supposedly the only options for serious lifters are to either sneak into the varsity weight room or find another gym elsewhere in the city (which is very unappealing). Is this true?

They replaced many of the machines a few weeks ago. There were only Smith Machines before, but now there is a brand new free squat rack, and I believe they changed the restriction on olympic lifts (otherwise the squat rack thinge would be of no use). Anyways, people do them all the time. With that being said, the gym is not the greatest in the world, but it works.
