Johns Hopkins Medical School

Sup Guys. I just wanted to know if you are an undergrad at JHop can you go strait to the Medical School without applying again? Or is it a separate admissions process?

Separate admissions in the sense that there’s no combined MD/BA or MD/BS degrees offered (Hopkins has combined Master’s and Bachelor’s programs in some majors like International Relations and some sciences), but you can intern at the medical school pretty much from your freshman year on as a research assistant. You just need to apply during I think your junior year of undergrad (don’t quote me on that, as I’m pre-law.)

Thanks owlwise

There are a few programs in the country with a combined Bachelor/MD (Rice to Baylor College of Medicine is one), but not JHU and The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. One applies to medical school after completion of junior year, as all medical schools require a minimum of 90 hours of credit which includes a “core” curriculum (Calculus, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics and English; Biochemistry is required at Hopkins). The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine requires a degree prior to matriculation. There is a specific application process to to medical school which requires doing it through the Pre-Professional Advising Office (Premed).

Here is the guide to Hopkins Premed – .pdf file:

It is separate but JHU undergrads make up the majority of JHU med school students, although this number is only like 17-18 students.

17-18 out of about 120 students is a pretty hefty number.
