Johns Hopkins RD 2023

accepted!! I’m still in shock!! congrats to all who got in and best of luck to everyone in the rest of their college decision processes!

Accepted RD Johns Hopkins Class of 2023. ACT 34. W:11 4 SAT Subject exams with scores above 750. 2 Amazing recs from AP Language and Composition and AP Biology teacher as well as one from my local newspaper editor. Applied for English as top choice and Behavioral Biology as #2 for majors. 9 APs with 4s and 5s at the end of junior year. Class Rank #1.

My stats were decent, but not stellar. It my essays that reflected a passion for legislative educational reform in Iowa that helped me get in. This drive for improving my school and the educational resources there was confirmed by my teachers’ recommendations.

Others achievements that may’ve helped: State of Iowa Youth Advisory Council(SIYAC) Executive Chairperson and 3 year member(working on an education bill that’s highly likely to be signed into state law), features writer for my local paper for the past 6 years, written for Hindu newspaper and Chicago Tribune, United States Senate Youth Program Delegate, Asian American Journalism Association JCamp Student Leader, National Society of Colonial Dames Student Leader, Coca-Cola Scholar, and World Food Prize Global Youth Institute.

I got accepted with a 1400 SAT and a mediocre transcript full of gaps… I’m incredibly shocked. I’d already convinced myself that I had no chance at getting into any of my reach schools but JHU proved me wrong in the best way. Now I can study the field that I’ve always wanted to pursue. Holistic apps, indeed. Congratulations to everyone!

Accepted! Wow reading everybody else’s stats (regardless of college decision), I just realized how much of a lottery college admissions can be. This admissions season has given me more mental breakdowns than I’d care to admit. Just because you got a bad result this time, know that the next couple of weeks are going to be hella hectic and with every bad result comes a good one!!! Case in point I got WL from WashU yesterday so who knew?
I’m happy for myself (validation yeee), but if you didn’t get in just know that this in no way says anything about you! College is so freakin’ random and I’m sure everyone here is absolutely phenomenal! Onto the next one my dudes

@anxiousNot To be blunt, if you’re shocked that your kid didn’t get in, then you obviously don’t understand how competitive hopkins is. Having great test scores and grades is very common amongst applicants and not enough to get you accepted. My best friend was waitlisted with a 36 act, perfect grades at competitive private school, and really strong ECs (including extensive summer research). This is common. Amazing kids get waitlisted/rejected. They take all sorts of things into consideration, but jumping to say that race is the reason someone did not get in is tacky and inaccurate. It is a reach school for EVERYONE

Accepted RD 2023, but didn’t get into BME. Two time intel ISEF qualifier/winner. I thought Hopkins was supposed to be good at aid though but they gave me less aid than Washu??

Accepted for economics, I’ve seen the rankings for majors at JHU obviously but does anyone know if it’s actually a good program in comparison to something like penn?

Wait listed but I’m happy!

Any other writing seminar/English admits out there?

S was accepted! 1570 SAT, 17 AP’s, medical fellowship, lots of leadership! So excited!

VERY competitive this year. “2,309 new students selected today to join the Class of 2023, a diverse group selected from an applicant pool of 30,163.”

Accepted Computer Engineering! SAT: 1540 WGPA: 4.4.
I think what really tipped the scales for me were my essays. I took a risk with my supplement and it worked. Keep your heads up all that did not get in! I got denied (not even deferred) from Cornell when I applied Early Decision. I turned it around and got accepted to an even more competitive school in a much larger applicant pool. This process is a flurry, and there is no reason to let a table of subjective admissions officers dictate your future! Prove them wrong.

ACCEPTED! Very excited, wish I could go to the admitted students program but I can’t… wasn’t expecting admission after being rejected from HOME! Salutatorian, 35 ACT

@SouthernHope any idea how many were waitlisted?

@DadofBoys I don’t know this years but last year, the first wave was offered the week of May 1 and these were the final stats:

Offered place on wait list 2,387
Number accepting place 1,412
Accepted from list 112

So maybe an 8% chance?

Accepted for Sociology!
SAT: 1560, GPA: 97/100, SAT2: Two 800s and one 770, 8 APs (all 5s except for Biology)
Extracurriculars: A lot of arts (visual and performing), a lot of community service, and a lot of research!

DD accepted (engineering); unweighted 4.0 plus perfect or near perfect standardized test scores; lots of AP’s; soild EC’s, including research, that demonstrate her passion for engineering/science, etc.

ACCEPTEDDDD, 1510 SAT, no subject tests, 7 APs, 96.41 GPA, many ecs/leadersip roles, research published in the wash journal, and internship at the United nations

im still in shock, i applied so last minute i was soo expecting a rejection, and im still waiting for them to say Just kidding. I think my essays is what helped make up for my not so stellar academics. Always show that you’re passionate in what you want to do and hopefully that’s what’ll shine through to the admissions officers.

i wish the best for you all!!!

oh btw i got in for neuroscience^^ :))))
