Johns Hopkins RD - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

anyone else still not have a portal link?

Aaahh! I’m so scared. I don’t have any awards, do you think that reallyyy weakens my application?

JHU portal only tracks FA items. How do we track if it has received all admission related documents?

Will it work negatively against me If I indicated on my application that I am interested in the Woodrow Wilson fellowship but didn’t fill out the application for it because I was too busy for midterms? I knew that I would have a pretty slim chance of being accepted anyways because of my lack of experience in research so I just decided to concentrate more on my exams.

@lenasharb I actually am in the same situation. I selected that I would apply but never got around to completing the application. I’ve heard that the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship materials might go along with applicant profiles to admissions committees, but the undergraduate admissions committees do not care about those materials nearly as much as the rest of your application and previously completed materials and play a very minor role, if they are even considered at all. The WW fellowship materials are really just for review by the fellowship committee, which has no bearing on undergraduate admission. I’m sure plenty of students sign up and end up not being able to complete it in time. I think I am going to request an interview and clear this up if I can get one. I hope this helped a little.

Has anyone been contacted for interview?

@Hephaestion JHU does not contact students, and instead incoming first-year applicants can request alumni interviews on the website. The website says:

“Like on-campus interviews, alumni interviews are not a required part of the application process and are by request only. Interviews typically address your academic background, goals, interests, and what you would contribute to the campus community. These conversations will also allow you to ask questions of your interviewer and learn about his/her Johns Hopkins experience.”

@wings17 they’ll email you if they’re missing anything

Recvd mail to submit midyear report by Feb 14. Anybody received that mail.

Decisions are coming up! Who’s excited/nervous/wants to be done with the stress?

I’m so nervous! :-SS

Chill! There’s still 10 days left!

I’m preparing for a rejection lol stats are too low

One of my financial aid documents is missing but Johns Hopkins never sent an email asking for it. Does that kind of indicate im rejected?

How does JHU view the interviews? I know the website says it’s not an indicator of admissibility, but what exactly does that mean? Will it hurt me in any way that I didn’t request an interview?

I don’t think it will hurt the application since they specifically mention it won’t.

@nerdgirl97 , An AO said that the interviews are “more informational than evaluative.” Many are conducted by current students to answer questions for applicants.

I don’t have a lot for comparison, but my daughter did not have an interview and was accepted ED class of 2022. Good luck!

Does anyone know whether the Woodrow Wilson fellowships are awarded along with the decisions or after?

If you apply for BME and get rejected, is it common to still be accepted into another major?

Yes
