How difficult is it to get recruited for the JHU track and field team? I know it’s division 3, but does anyone know what their specific standards are for each event? Thanks.
I am being recruited by them through regular decision and I run sprints. I would be happy to tell you around the times I run( I could message you)
Look on tfrrs.org for their top performances and do a bit of research on milesplit to see the times their top runners ran in HS. But if you’re in the ballpark with times (as in: could potentially contribute points at the conference meet) your best bet is to fill out the recruiting form and email the coach with your marks, grades, test scores. Recruiting is a dynamic process and really depends on team needs and which other athletes are available, so there really aren’t specific marks.
yea ^this def holds true. also, from my experience, unless you are good enough to run D1, johns hopkins and other d3 schools will not use a slot on you if they already used slots on people of your same event from the year before.
Sure that would be great! Thanks
As with most athletic recruits, it depends on the school and how you well you will compete in the meets, as well as your academics for a top school such as JHU. That is good advice to look at the current JHU times as well as the conference stats.
I had a D/S that was interested in JHU as that was one of their top choices academically. If I remember correctly, we met with the coach early on and he indicated that he did not have a lot pull with admissions, and my D/S would be the top on the team in their event.
They ended up being going to an Ivy and running track but had a lot of D1 interest along the way.
I do remember at a top D1 program, the coach stating something to the effect that to
be a top recruit, and to have any chance at “some” scholarship money, you would need to be able to come in and score pts. at meets.
I suppose it would depend on the team/school, but I would expect the same type of thinking to hold true for D3. To be a top recruit you would be expected to come in and score pts. at meets.
