@ivydreams411 Yeah, that was my worry as well, but I don’t think we should worry too much. Like @northstarfx and @Rojahne said, think positive, the day will come soon so there is no use in stressing out days before
@MKirsten
May I ask where in Canada are you from? I am also a Canadian applicant.
Did anybody else attend the flyin program HOME at JHU. I feel as though they got my hopes up with accepting me for that only to crush my dreams with admissions.
I haven’t gotten any emails from JHU other than the email to create your account and now I’m worried that I might have already been rejected. I guess I’ll know by Friday…
i accidentally didn’t send in my tax income forms for financial aid lol. jhu just called me saying that they needed them. is this a good sign? i mean… the notification date is four days away. why would they need my tax forms now? did they not review my application yet and are just waiting for the tax forms or did they already review my app and need my forms since i was accepted? i don’t want to get my hopes up lol. what do you guys think?
Honestly, I’m starting to worry now. Everyone is getting these emails or phone calls and I’m getting nothing…
@kp1997 I was thinking the same thing when I got the same request because it would make sense that they only evaluate the financial status of those who they are at least considering it would be more efficient that way but I don’t know because that might just be idealistic thinking (I do not want to get my hopes up)
@Krishna98 well they are getting phone calls for things they did not hand in so I would not worry too much about it. The financial aid and admissions departments are separate anyway
would i get a bad aid package for handing in my tax income forms late? i applied ed and if i get accepted and they give me a terrible package, i’m pretty much screwed…
@kp1997 Financial aid packages aren’t finalized anyway till much later; they’d only give you an estimate of what it would be right now. You still have to turn in other stuff like your FAFSA and 2015 tax returns later on, and that’s when they tell you your official financial package.
Ahhh! Everybody’s been notified to send in tax return forms! Why do I have a feeling I’ve already been rejected
Freaking in here lol
See I just don’t see JHU taking time to personally call candidates who they’re rejecting.
@ivydreams411 As much as what you have said makes sense, I just don’t want to believe it
Or maybe no rejection, but being deferred is just as bad. Three more months?!
Yeah, I have a bad feeling about this… It’s really stressing me out. I don’t want to believe it
About 30% of all FAFSA filers are selected for verification. This process requires schools to collect documentation to check the accuracy of the FAFSA information. If your FAFSA is selected for verification, the Office of Student Financial Aid will request additional documents from you to verify information on your FAFSA.
^…but no one has submitted FASFA yet…? It’s not available for submission until next year starting January
@EvenfallsWolf @Krishna98 Maybe ask on the previous year’s ED forum if anyone went through the same dilemma with the financial aid stuff?
Research time!
From JHU’s website: “If you are accepted ED and qualify for assistance, you will receive an estimated aid offer along with your acceptance packet. This offer is based on information submitted on the College Scholarship Service PROFILE form. A final aid offer will follow in the spring, pending receipt of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and your parents’ prior calendar year federal income tax returns. In the unlikely event that information on your FAFSA and tax returns varies significantly from original estimates, your financial aid package could change.”
From AdmissionsDaniel (2008 thread): “3. Federal Income Tax Returns and Other Required Documents. JHU uses the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) to collect copies of parent and student federal income tax returns and other required documents. You will receive a notice from the College Board’s IDOC service in late January or early February listing all documents required to complete your application… Early Decision applicants must meet this requirement after acceptance to JHU.”
So it seems that tax returns, which are submitted in spring (concurs with IDOC opening in February) are not necessarily needed for ED? Perhaps tax forms are used to verify CSS Profiles (random sampling?) or are used to estimate complicated CSSP?
I’m not sure for those who received emails requiring tax reforms, maybe a good sign? (If yes, congrats!) But for those who don’t (me included ), I don’t think it’s a big deal either. So, I tell myself, calm down
What I love the most about this website is the information and insight that it provides. What I hate the most about this website is how I build up anxiety by incessantly scrutinizing every single post lol. Yeah, I don’t think the tax forms have anything to do with admissions because in the email it stated that they were missing this information since I neglected to fax them in along with my CSS profile.
