& here: President William R. Brody

Thats really too bad. A little anecdote: DS was in the Barnstormers production of Brighton Beach Memoirs. Now the faculty rarely attend the student run productions but on opening night William Brody was in the audience! He was nice enough to complement sons performance afterward as well. He will be missed.

He is very well respected by students and parents. My S called me this morning between classes to make sure I had heard the news. I hadn't of course since I was at work, but he felt the need to share it. He will be missed for sure.

President Brody is an impressive man who will be very missed at Hopkins. He leads a great administration.

Alumni received special e-mail notices telling us of Brody's plans.
Any word on who's on the short list for the next president? December 15 will come quite soon.

Actually President Brody retires on Dec. 31. As far as a short list, I think it is way too early to speculate. I personally don't think we will hear anything about potential candidates until after President Brody has left. Once again in my opinion I don't think we will hear any big news between now and the end of year except for who will be the Interim President. Knowing Hopkins, this is a process that will be meticulous and take some time. It is hard to replace someone like President Brody.

Thanks for the correction, AD. And knowing Hopkins, the process should yield another fine and capable individual. Daniel Coit Gilman is one of my personal heroes.
