There doesn't seem to be an '10 transfer thread for JHU before I made this one. So is anyone on CC going to apply?

JHU is one of my match-reach (if that makes sense) xfer schools, as I had gotten WLed last year (probably due to a very, very big dive in my senior year avg--stats were quite good all-around before that).

I am looking for strong Applied Math programs, and JHU is on my short list. I will be transferring from a strong engineering program, but my university does not offer applied math.

I had applied for Hopkins’ BME program last year, so I think I will still apply for that major again this year, if the school allows xfers to do so.

i haven’t actually started the app process yet; when i applied last year, i barely knew anything bout the school, which i think showed in my essays. i am definitely going to psend a hell of a lot more time on the app this year.

I have only started the common app myself. The essays are going to be rough. I playing around with so many ideas in my head for them. I just need to start following through and writing!

I noticed that you posted in the Brown thread too, are you applying there as well?

most likely ,as I had gotten WLed from there last year as well. It’s weird in an unfunny way, because I was WLed from all of my match (top #7-15ish) schools, while kids with lower grades+test scores/less rigorous courseloads/less ECs were accepted. i am currently an internationational waiting on my greencard soon,so i’m worried that my status is going to adversely affect my chances. really, i am just hoping to get out of my current institution into a decent private, because where i go now, working hard is uncool.

Good luck with both the Greencard and Transfer Process!

I have talked with a few students in the applied math department at JHU, and they seem to overwhelmingly like it. This is not only getting me excited, but I am also getting some useful tidbits and insights that I could include in my essays!

Besides JHU and Brown, where else are you looking?

Also applying as a transfer. Gonna major in chem…
I’m currently working on my ACTs so I have better chances.
Melonbread, I am in exactly the same situation (both greencard and place)… so frustrating.

NEU2NU, I’ll be applying to pretty much every place I was WLed at last year (Stanford, Yale, some top 10/15) as well as some lower ranked schools like NYU(not stern) and UMich. I’m hoping I can fill out everything at a comfortable pace, though.

i’m looking to apply to the I had been WLed from last year (Stanford, upper ivies, some top 15, NYU (this was my ***? moment last year-can’t believe my 96 didn’t get in over kids with 84 avgs in my school), as well as some schools I’ve never applied to, like Chicago, WUSTL, Emory, anf Gtown. I’m adding in a lot more safeties, though.
listing these schools just reminded me of my current school which i am miserable at =/
I’m wondering if i should take the SATs again? I retook bio and math IIC this oct. and I’m pretty sure i got 800 on math, near 800 bio. my SAt scores are 2250ish but i think they might be kind of low for jhu and brown. i started another thread about this, and people have told me that i shouldn’t bother with retakes, even though i am very confident i can increase my score by 100+ points (i had the flu the only time i took my SAT, and didn’t bother with retakes because of family problems that started my senior year) If I can get a 2370+, won’t that look much bettter to jhu? What do you guys think?

the most obvious reason for transferring would be because my college doen’t offer my major (interdisciplinary engineering/language/econ) while stanford, jhu, and a number of other schools do. along with many, many other reasons. i had applied to each of the schools i did last year for specific reasons, and my experience with my current institution reinforces them.

Anybody know anyone who transferred into the undergraduate business program? I’m curious to know how that program is from a student perspective.
