Johns Hopkins vs. Northwestern (Pre-med)

I was accepted into Hopkins' Biomedical Engineering Program and Northwestern's Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. After visiting both campuses, I have a pretty good feel for the layout and proximity to other ammenities... But I was wondering about the respective academics. My goal is to go to a top 5 medical school. I have been doing some research and have a few concerns about both programs... I'll post them on their respective boards.

1) JHU's BME program has an average GPA of 3.2 according to the directors. Since Medical Schools look at GPA and MCAT scores, will this hurt my chances more than help them?

2) I hear that even more general courses at Hopkins are much more difficult (perhaps grade deflation/perhaps more material) than those elsewhere. Would the reputation of Hopkins make up for the lower GPA in applying to medical school?

3) The impression I got while at Hopkins was that the kids spend massive amounts of time studying (and when they aren't indoors studying they take their materials out to the Beach to study some more). Are the classes' difficulty overwhelming and about how much time is required per week in and out of class?

4) Hopkins' medical school is definitely one of my top choices. Would going to Hopkins as an undergraduate help me at all in getting into the graduate school? (any kind of preference for their own undergrads, etc)

I'd just make a suggestion -- I don't think you will get many responses to your new thread because answers to your four questions have been discussed many, many, many times over on CC. Just search the old threads, especially from the last month.

Also check out the JHU Forums (<a href="http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums%5B/url%5D">http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums</a>) as all four topics have been discussed there as well.
