Johns Hopkins Vs. Wellesley

I need some help. I've been lucky enough to receive two offers from two great colleges, Johns Hopkins and Wellesley, and am now forced to make a decision between the two. I am an international student and am planning to study international studies or politics. Can people give me advice on which school would best suit my choice of study? Thank you!

I believe JH has a specific school for IR whereas Wellesley has IR as an individual major. JH is a much larger place, people wise so if you are looking for a homey type campus this is not it. Wellesley is more isolated, but a safer environment where you can study when you want and see boys when you want. Not all the time. Both have great name recognition, so either one would be good. It just depends on what sort of campus life you would like?

It really does depend on what kind of experience you would like. A mid size university in a large city or a liberal arts college in a more isolated setting.

I would opt for Wellesley personally because you will get more individual attention than at JHU.

I think both schools are great so it really depends on what you want. Personally, I am in love with the accelerated programme for Int studies at JHU. Also, its Int. studies courses are very very all-rounded, its reputation is fairly high too  Well besides that, I just love the size of JHU- not too large and not too small, just perfect. I do think there will still be intimate relationship between professors and students as some classes are pretty small in size. And Baltimore is just a great place to live in…haha good luck with your decision making! :P

ps: I am not saying that simply because I got waitlisted by Wellesley :stuck_out_tongue: I did research for both schools in terms of IR courses and that’s how I came up with the conclusion! ;)

This is interesting…I think I chose Wellesley eventually :stuck_out_tongue: (still not 100% sure, though)
since I decided that I want to do foreign languages as well so Wellesley is a better place! :)

The truth is its not going to make a difference. Wellesley has some advantages - powerful, loyal alumni network, special programs in DC, super small classes, intimate relationships with professors. Similarly JHU has different benefits such as nearby access to DC and its programs in IR. The net result? It probably won’t make much of a difference for your career where you choose.

So do you want to go to a tightknit, all women’s campus in a beautiful new england suburb, or a larger, coed, research-driven campus in a more urban environment.

Its a fit choice.
