Johns Hopkins, WUSTL, or UChicago??

My friend is having a hard time trying to decide between UChicago, WashU, and Johns Hopkins. She is interested in Physics/Engineering and is more concerned about how driven the students are academically rather than what the the social scenes are like at each school. She has a very competitive nature and could do well in a cutthroat environment. She is coming from a small, private high school and wants to live in a more urban area if possible. Research opportunities, internships, etc. are very important, as well as job recruiting after graduation. Which of these schools would be the best fit for her and why?

She really appreciates all the feedback
Thanks!

*I also posted this question on the boards for the other two schools as well.

UChicago is great for the kind that don’t care about the social atmosphere

My son is at WUSTL and is extremely happy. The social scene there is fairly active- no way is it a party school. He does not feel that it is cutthroat. He also got into JHU but just didn’t feel that it was the place for him. There are tons of research opportunities available at WUSTL, but there are likely to be just as many at UC and JHU.
