Johns Hopkins

I am a full time dual enrollment student at Florida International University. I am finising my last two years of highschool at the same time as my first two years of college, so i basically do AP classes and college classes in the same day all year. My courses since 9th grade to 10th have all been honors , pre-IB , & two APs (Lit & Gov) sophomore year. Junior year i took 2 AP classes (Apush & Lang) and 7 college classes. Next year I will have 4 AP classes (Lit & Gov again bc my program makes me take it again and Calculus and macro). My gpa is currently a 3.33 but it will increase hopefully to a 3.4-3.5. I am interested in only sending my ACT with writing that was 29 (retaking it this saturday though). My extracurriculars include Fashion Club for 9th grade, NHS for 10th grade, Volunteering at my highschool’s pre-school events 9th-10th. Volunteering at a summer camp 9th grade. Key club 11th grade and volunteering at events with my club. Interning at a blood donation center all summer and i plan to join clubs senior year. What are my chances of joining Hopkins? Should I do Early Decision?

My unweighted is 3.33 and my weighted is a 4.22 but both are going to be higher once GPA’s are updated*

Even with all of your other attractive stats, you’re going to need to raise your GPA to be competitive against other applicants. Colleges refer to GPA to look at work ethic. You might have a chance since the rate of acceptance for ED is higher. I’d just go for it, but make sure you have other Colleges in mind if JH doesn’t work out.

Thank you! I do have other colleges i know i can get into on my list but Hopkins would be great. Im just afraid of doing Early Decision and not being able to apply to other schools I’m interested in. And my GPA I am definitely trying to raise , my weighted is supposebly going to get around 5.1 but what matters is my unweighted :frowning:

I think your GPA is too low for Johns Hopkins. There are state schools that would deny you admission with that 3.33 GPA. You need to find a more reasonable target. If you want to apply as a reach, then do that, but unless you have a compelling reason to be admitted that you didn’t mention, I believe you will be denied at Johns Hopkins.

GPA and ACT score are pretty low for Johns Hopkins try taking SAT and you would have to write a really good essay

No one can give you a definite answer. Your scorers/GPA seem very low, though. I’ll be attend Hopkins next year, and I had all As all four year of HS with the exception of 1 B, and I had a friend from my school who was wait listed with all As all four years. We both had 34s on the ACT. Additionally, I graduated HS with over two years worth of college credit from AP tests and concurrent enrollment (16 credits from that, I think). But I’m using less than 20 hours of my credit to satisfy my double major. I’ve heard of programs similar to what you’re doing. I’m not 100% sure any of your credit will transfer, since I’m assuming it also appeared on your HS transcript, but even then, you can only transfer 12 hours. But anyways, as of right now, your GPA and test scores are not high enough to be competitive, especially being from Florida.
