Johnson Letters Mailed Today

Non finalist letter finally came.

Not a Johnson finalist, but just got in EDII!!!

I got my finalist letter a couple days ago  From NJ!

No letter here as of 1/29…and we’re just down the road apiece in North Carolina. I assume that means DS is a non-finalist. (His SAT I SS was only 2100, so that would make sense. OTOH, he’s a National Merit Semifinalist, and he scored an 800 on his Latin SAT II and a 790 on his Math II SAT II.)

To tell the truth, we would not be severely disappointed if he didn’t make Finalist. We are already confused enough about where he’ll end up. We cannot afford W&L without the Johnson, and we were always a bit iffy about such a Greek-dominated environment for such an extremely independent kid. He has been accepted at UNC Chapel Hill, and he and we are leaning in that direction. Even if he doesn’t get much merit aid at UNC (won’t find that out for another few weeks), it is still comparatively affordable. So, in a sense, W&L will be doing us (and others) a favor if it informs us that DS is not a Johnson finalist. As that would render DS’s attendance there financially infeasible, it would open up a spot for another student who can better appreciate what W&L has to offer.  (This is assuming that DS even gets in, which is a fairly large assumption. He will hear 2/15, I believe.)

finalist letter by email, accepted international student from Paraguay, South America… with a 2110 SAT

How many students is W+L sending to the Johnson Scholars Competition weekend? And how many are awarded scholarships, coming out of the weekend? Does anyone know the stats on odds and how many will be in Lexington for the competition?

I wonder how many of you I met… interesting. I stayed in Ghaines btw

I heard that Johnson Scholar letters have already been mailed as of last Friday, the day after the competition. Does anyone know if this is true? Has anyone received a letter yet?

last year the turn around was not that quick.

What was the time line for decisions last year?

I heard that they will be mailed THIS Friday.

I heard the majority of decisions were made by thursday and that letters went out last friday (ie immediately after the competition). Just a rumor that floated around, not sure as to its validity

I had an interview today for the lewis scholarship (which is a washington & lee johnson scholarship for west virginia students) and they said they were mailing out the scholarship decisions with the acceptance letters this friday :)
