Hello, everybody! Just wondering if anyone has received notice yet as to whether they will be going on to round two of the selection process. I know it said late January, but I am dying to find out! If you have received notification, can you put your stats?
My son has applied and has not heard a peep. Where did you hear late January as the notice date?
Does Johnson Scholarship come before Admission results?
Johnson Scholarship finalists are selected normally toward the end of January or sometimes early Feb. Then the trip to W&L takes place in first weekend of March. The final notification of the scholarship is sent in March just as other admission results.
I also applied for the Johnson scholarship and still no word. Let me know when you hear please!
I am still confused. You mean to say I may not know about admission but be selected for Johnson Scholarship
@pdxcwa I was not the original poster, but I believe that’s the speculated date as students on last year’s Johnson thread posted their results.
I did not mean that you can be selected for the scholarship without admission. You could be a Johnson Scholarship FINALIST anytime soon, but you will get to know whether you are a Johnson Scholar during admission decisions in March,

GPA 4.0/4.0. Have taken a really tough Alevels curriculum with subjects ranging from Math and Physics to Economics and Journalism. I have about 9 Courses in current year and have still maintained exceptional grades in my first trimester sessionals (4.0).
My ACT is a 32. (28 E, 35 M, 31R, 32S). My Maths 2 subject score is 740 and Physics is 720. Other than that I have a really strong academic profile for last 4 consecutive school years.
My commonapp essay is a pretty personal essay which according to many is a strong displayer of who I am and how i have strongly faced risen over a discrimination that i faced.
My Johnson Scholarship essay revolved around getting a toilet made in my school. It showed exceptional Leadership skills since all finances and dealings had to be done by me. No support was given through school and thus answered a Q posed by johnson scholarship well.
My Why and WandLee and activity essays were pretty good too showing my well researched nature.
My Letter of Recs, eventhough i havent seen them, were hopefully very strong. One even came from UC Bekrley PHD who saw me as an influential leader in class at Stanford.
As far as my Extra curriculars are concerned, I have attended a Stanford Pre Collegiate summer program where i did great and got a letter of REC from My professor too. I was the Headboy (President) of my school and was also the Vice President (Deputy Headboy) of my school for consecutive years. I have 600+ hours of Community service. Internship at BBC and Frontier Core Hospital. I tutor students for free as well. I am Regional level swimmer and have been winning swimming competitions. I have founded two socieities as well which have been succesful in making an impact on lives of many people. Etc.
My honors include 1st position in Kangaroo Maths competition in Reigon and same with Spelling Bee competiton. I was the Student of the year, most prestigious award of my school. Lastly I was also a high achiever at United States Educational foundation of Pakistan (among 30 from 200000).
You would not be considered for the Johnson Scholarship if you were not already going to be accepted to W&L. So yes, nominations and then the interview process are completed before admission letters are sent out. We will hopefully be finding out about the first decision for the scholarship selection process within the next two weeks! @bk1366
Raamael… I think you have a really good shot at becoming a finalist. Your rigorous classes do stand out and it may give you an edge. Its however not possible to know how close that can be because of the low odds. My advice is that you shouldn’t trouble yourself with the thought until you have the letter in your hands. That is in a few days!

FOR EVERYONE APPLYING FOR A JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP: I just asked my college counselor at school if she knew when notifications were coming out. She sent an email to the director of the program at W&L and will hopefully hear back shortly. I’ll post when I hear from my counselor.

I talked with Admissions. The Johnson scholarship invitation for the competition will go out 1 or 2 week of Feb.

Does anyone know if they send out invitations and notifications to those who aren’t selected? Will I find out either way or only if I get invited? Thanks in advance.
@mew6326 I believe, though I’m not sure, that those who aren’t selected will get thin envelopes and letters. I think these come later though, as the invitations are FedExed (and I think overnighted)
