Also applying to UVA, William and Mary, Georgia Tech, Tulane, Brown, Bridgewater (super safety). I really really really want the Johnson though, I loved W&L a lot more than I thought I would when I visited, and it would keep me closer to home than some of the other scholarships I’m applying for. Me going to W&L basically depends on this scholarship. I’d love to hear some more stats

^I think you definitely have a chance!

SAT I: Not submitting
ACT: 34
SAT IIs: 800 USH, 790 WH, 750 Lit

EC: Don’t feel like writing them all. Writing focus.

I really liked W&L on the visit (so friendly!), but I want to learn an obscure language (Vietnamese) and have another dream school (Yale), plus I might want a bigger university atmosphere. We’ll see though! If I’m fortunate enough to get the Johnson I may well attend.

Speaking of Johnson Scholarships…oops,I’d better hurry to send in my app><

I don’t see myself too much of a chance though.

mediocre/sligtly low SAT:cr610(killing,will retake in Dec…),math770,w800
SATIIs:taken not known yet UShis,MathII,Lit…
3AP’s last year:5,4,3(- -),self studying another two, will take them next May
ECs:I feel a bit obscure- -I’m an international, exchanged for one year in TX, was quite involved in different activities…but I now kinda feel this year interrupted my total dedication to MUN,for apparently i couldn’t continue to do lots of things I just started in my 10th grade/the first year of HS in my country, but oh well.I gained a different view.

I want to major in international relations, want to know more about Latin American culture and literature…but, also interested in both maths like number theory and applied math.

That’s basically about me…pressed on the time though.

Ha,good luck,y’all!

Hi,

One question - when do we have to submit need-based aid forms?

same date…dec 1

really? Didnt seem like that from what I found on the website… Moreover - how could I sumbit info about this year?

    so waddya think

buuuuuuump!

I don’t have the stats for it, but I’m still applying.

I’m with mose2014. I didn’t have the best test scores and all, but I’m applying anyway. Better to try for it and get shot down than to not try at all, I guess.

Does anyone have statistics on what percentage of students who applied for the Johnson were actually awarded the Johnson? I am interested in knowing, but I can’t find this anywhere. Also, do they accept internationals as Johnson Scholars? I don’t see any internationals in the classes of 2012 and 2013 (maybe I’m wrong)…

Anyway, the more I find out about W&L the more interested I am. English major here!

Sorry if this sounds incredibly creepy… but Tres Elefantes, did you also comment in a YoungArts post? Did you apply/finalize? And are you applying to Scholastic? Cause that’s due Friday, right?

10% of each incoming class is awarded a Johnson. I know of the applicants, 200 are called to campus for the interviews and all. And of that i wanna say there are like 44 people who actually get it? And I think 1500 people (ish) send in the application for it? But I’m not that great with numbers so I could be completely off hahah. That’s just what I vaguely think I remember reading somewhere. Not sure about internationals though.

No, although I wanted to submit portfolios to each program, I never got my **** together. I was going to do it over the summer but I never got around to it. You know how that goes. I’ll probably submit a short story and an essay to Scholastic. We’ll see.

And I’m no longer RAL for Scholastic! Wow, never thought that would happen. My region’s deadline is apparently December 23. Congrats on youngARTS though! That’s such an amazing accomplishment!

Hmm, okay. Those are interesting stats. I can definitely see that. :)

Oh yeah, I guess it’s just my regional deadline that’s Friday hahah. That’s definitely all I’ve been working on lately, that and my Johnson essay.
And I totally get what you’re saying about not getting your stuff together in time… my creative writing class was required to submit to YoungArts so that’s the only reason I made sure to make the deadline hahah. If my teacher hadn’t been on my back about it for like two weeks I probably would have missed it hahah

Well, GL with everything! Glad to here there are other people applying who are into writing.

yeah thanks. and you too!

I applied for the Johnson, have a family member who is one there right now and is loving it.

Stats:

SATI: 2350
SATII 3 760’s
GPA: 3.81/4.0
National AP Scholar
Page for State Legislature
All Around cool Dude.

So I thought we found out about the scholarship program when the Ed ppl found out their results… Do we have to wait until April if we did not apply ED but did apply for the Johnson scholar program?

we’re notified if we’re finalists in late january. if you’re a RD applicant and you finalize for the johnson scholarship, it means they’re “prepared to admit you” but it’s not official until you get your actual letter. and if you don’t go to the competition and all, that may affect their decision.
