Johnstown vs Bradford

I was just wondering which campus is better. So far I'm leaning towards Johnstown, but I wanted to hear some opinions.

Update:
I'm also planning on majoring in Computer science if that affects anything.
But either way, I'm planning on transferring to the main campus after two years.

I don’t know much about Bradford but I have a friend whose son is at Johnstown. He is close (maybe an hour or so) from main and takes a school provided bus to all the home football games. He initially thought he would transfer to main after two years and changed his mind and will be staying in Johnstown. He is a business major if that makes a difference.

I know many more people who transferred here from UPJ compared to UPB. UPJ is definitely ranked higher.

Unfortunately I can’t find a list with all the campus rankings right now, but if you look at Wiki, UPJ has numbers for it’s rankings ([University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown - Wikipedia)) whereas UPB just has a mention without numbers ([University of Pittsburgh at Bradford - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Pittsburgh at Bradford - Wikipedia))

Primarily, when deciding between regional campuses, you should consider the academic offerings of both and also the settings of their campuses.

From what I can tell, Pitt-Johnstown has a [Computer Science program](http://www.upj.pitt.edu/376/) while Pitt-Bradford does not. That is probably enough to make your decision for you with two stipulations: 1) UPJ having your major may make it more difficult to justify a transfer to main 2) UPJ having your major may make it easier to complete your program whether transferring or not. I don’t know the answers there, but you should explore those possibilities.

Pitt-Johnstown is the older, larger, more established campus. It is less remote than Bradford’s location. Bradford is more rural and remote and about half as large, but draws more out-of-state students being close to the New York border. Johnstown has NCAA Division II sports, Bradford is Division III. Both campuses have fraternities and sororities, if that is at all important to you.

Princeton Review gives the following scores for academics and admissions to both schools.

Pitt-Bradford: 71
Pitt-Johnstown: 70

**Admissions selectivity rating/b

So by Princeton Review’s measurements, the schools are essentially identical. Both are listed among their Best Colleges in the Northeast.
