You don’t have to ask colleges to accept your “late” app – try for some like Western New England and Sierra Nevada, which are rolling admissions schools (Sierra Nevada’s adcom told me that the latest they’ve accepted a student is a DAY before fall semester begins).

Can you please tell me how you jumped from 1400 to a 2210 =o

How many months apart were the SATs?

And I would think that it showed that you sat down and studied your ass off and pulled that score.

What books did you study from or something lol

Nope, according to his/her other thread the difference is because the first exam was taken when he/she was sick. Which I rather do admire, but I’ve got to wonder what on earth the parental units in that household were thinking when they dropped a sick kid off at an exam site!

My son had a 104.5 fever the day of the PSAT his junior year, so he never took it! We were sad to find out there was no other PSAT test date, or make-up, but it was the right decision.

Thanks for your replies
Thanks ClassicRockerDad for the info, Im taking a look at it.
to the ones like me, there is still hope lol.

@Sharon I was sick! Barron’s helped me a lot, the iphone app for the sat words, reading a dictionary (lol I know sounds weird but it helps a lot and almost everyone has one) and a ti89 calculator.

@happymomof1, thanks for reading my other posts, and just for the record my parents didn’t drop me off at an exam site, I got there by myself. I am old enough to make my own decisions and I decided to take the SAT no matter what, perhaps not the wisest thing but there is the consequence.

sketchpad,

Anyone who can have the determination to get himself to an exam site when they are as sick as you were that day, clearly has what it takes to be successful in the long run. In the end, you are going to be fine. When you apply to colleges in the future, I’d suggest you let them know that your were sick the first time, so that they know how to interpret your results.

Wishing you all the best!

I got rejected EVERYWHERE I applied to; it totally sucks. I applied for music programs, and I was even rejected by my safety school. I’m still applying though, so don’t give up! It kind of sucks though how almost everyone in school already knows where they’re going. I’ll probably figure out where I’ll be in June. -_- It’s so stressful!
Good Luck guys!
Hopefully by the end of May we’ll all come back to this thread with good news. :)

I would definitely reiterate the suggestion of Canadian schools, especially if you’re an IB student the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary recruit heavily and give tons of scholarships. I’m pretty sure both of those have a deadline in late April.

so sorry guys! don’t worry, everything will work out for you all! :D

i posted in “what are my chances” here for a vcu transfer student, and i got rejected from the school of the arts program.

my GPA didn’t help me, also the fact that i only applied 2 weeks ago (that was as soon as i could get my transcript cause at my former institution i had a financial hold on my account), there may or may not have been anymore spaces in the program. i reapplied again as a communications major, so we’ll see if i can maybe hear some good news :

i guess i have to magically find $50k to return to drexel if this doesn’t work out :(

Space Available List is Up!

During the end of Jr year I moved from NJ to VA and lost all of my friends. It hur but the only thing that kept me moving was the though that I would be going off to college soon and it really wouldn’t matter anyway. However, I never was the best student when it came to grades but I thought that by geting involved in art programs, practicing my on my drawings and paintings everyday, going to 3 diffrent portfolio days in diffrent states and having a pretty good essay I could make up for it. But I was totally wrong and was rejected from every single one of my art schools and my back up schools.

I wasn’t entirely surprised but somehow I was still completely devastated. I stoped drawing, painting and filming and haven’t been able to ever since. The pain never went away. I’m still stuck in a deep depression and contemplated suicide a lot. I truly hate myself for what I have put myself into and to be honest, no longer have intrest in living. As dramatic as that may sound.

@ Witchhouse,
THANK YOU for posting your honest feelings. As a parent of a girl your age, I care about you, and urge you to talk to someone you trust. I know that if you were my daughter’s friend, or even a stranger, I would drop EVERYHING to talk to you and help you. Call a parent (any parent - doens’t have to be yours!) a mentor, a teacher, a minister, a hotline from the yellow pages, a doctor… ANYONE who you have a tiny feeling would be willing to help. If you want to PM me, I would be happy to help you too, but sometimes personal conversations work better. What can we as a board do to encourage you? There are many many parents on here who have struggled with rejection in their own lives and the lives of their children. We have been there. We can help.

@Witchhouse, let me reiterate what shoot4moon posted. Please do not give up. Find someone, anyone, you can talk to. Let us know if we can help in any way. Hang in there. It gets better.

Hey girl
You are only 18 and there is a lifetime ahead of you. Remember as a kid when one falls down we get up brush ourselves and get on with a game. Some of us get up immediately and some of get a little bruised and take a while. But we all get up and get on with the game. So if you need time time it is ok to feel sad and hopeless, we all do,trust me. These are emotions as being happy and excited are.

This too shall change. Get hold of a friend or a parent, an elder and share what you are feeling. You will feel better and also talking to people will allow you to explore options rather than being stuck where you are. Everything happens for a reason. We cannot see it.

You will emerge a stronger, wiser and happier person. Because you will have learnt to deal with downs of life. I am a mom of a young girl and trust me when I say you can handle anything. You are beautiful, intelligent, wise and do not allow any rejections and disappointments tell you otherwise. Come on cheer up and see what are your options are now and what you can do with time you have on hand right now before you apply for summer semester. Make your resume stronger.

I wish you all the best and pray for you and May God bless you.

Witchhouse–Please talk to someone. Don’t know who? Walk into any church and ask for help–there is always someone close by. You don’t have to believe in that faith (or any faith) but they will be there to help. Call a hotline. It’s sometimes easier to talk to a stranger who can help you and you don’t have to be face to face.

Think about where you want to be. Now and in a year. You can make your dreams happen. First step is to identify what you want. Then, since you are an artist, maybe draw your dream. This will get you focused and also get you doing what you love. Don’t give up on what you love. It’s very hard to fight depression, but you have to start somewhere and you have to start now.

Read all these suggestions and know we really do care about you. There are people close to you who care and strangers who care. Take the first steps to see that you care too. Please find someone to talk to.

You can always find a path, it just may not be the one in front of you.

“You can always find a path, it just may not be the one in front of you.”

So true - I can recall several times where the path in front of me was completely blocked. It was distressing to say the least when your plans appear to be a dead end. There are other ways - hang in there!!

Dear Witchhouse,

My D found this quote which helped her when she was down: Everything will be alright in the end; if it isn’t then it’s not the end.

Please talk to a healthcare provider as soon as you can. Being depressed is not a character flaw. There are treatments that can turn things around.
