I logged on and found out i was waitlisted. I applied for the pharm school. Maybe i should have applied under a different major?

Anyway, anyone else got waitlisted too? I dont want to be alone lol. I said i still wanted to be considered. Is there a chance that they give you a decision before the national may 1 deadline for admission deposits? Hypothetically, how does it work if you give a deposit for another school and then got accepted as a waitlister?

I was waitlisted too =(. I’m debating whether or not I should accept the waitlist? I’m thinking I shouldn’t b/c I do love the school, but not if I have to pay 50k to go. I’m saying that b/c hypothetically speaking if I get moved off the waitlist and am accepted I’ll get nearly no financial aid b/c they saved it for the students who were normally accepted. I don’t know that’s how I’m thinking about it. Did you accept the waitlist offer?

I, too, was wait listed, and from my safety school, no less. I applied to the CAS English program, but no luck. I accepted the wait list position mostly because I want to have hope for some kind of backup if I don’t get accepted to my other schools. It’s better than rejection, I guess…

And, Jay, it is an unranked list, apparently. If they have available spaces, they will review wait lister applications once more and make a final decision. Something like 200 students were placed in class of 2014 from the wait list last year.

My son is a middler at NEU. At this time 3 years ago, he was also waitlisted so we deposited at Syracuse. Then, he was accepted (into the Engineering program) from the waitlist WITH financial aid. So don’t give up hope. We did end up getting our deposit back from Syracuse.

I was so surprised i was waitlisted. This really ****es me off. It was suppsoed to be a low target for me. I don’t want to go THAT badly but it makes me worried about BU

Some kids with GPAs and SAT scores a lot lower than mine got accepted.
And it’s weird because I had an amazing activity resume, solid GPA, a decent SAT score, I’m a minority, taking pretty difficult classes in a highly ranked school

where did i go wrong? anybody feeling like this too?

I’m giving Northeastern a call today. I know I deserve to get in.

@hateusernames: What major did you apply to? Pharmacy seems to have significantly higher admission standards than other majors. Also, Engineering and Business seem to be higher than other programs.

I feel your pain! I thought i could have gotten in AND it WAS my top choice. I guess i am just going to go to regular pharm school.

News weekly or whatever ranked NEU pharm school in the 40s. I got accepted to a local pharm school and it’s like ranked 24. Still…i want to be a NEU HUSKIE!!!

Don’t worry you’re not alone. I feel the same way. Minus the minority part, I thought my stats were definitely good enough to get in, and I know a couple of my friends who got in with worse stats. I emailed them but didn’t get anything unexpected back. Just the typical stuff.

My D is in the same boat. Would have been one of her top choices instead got waitlisted. Applied EA then deferrred to the waitlist. Two other students from her high school got in… One with similar stats and the most rigorous coursework offered, daughters rank, SATII"S and number of AP’s were higher, and this students SATs were alittle higher, but by all accounts, a strong student. She was accepted but offered no aid at all making it out of the question. The other student was nowhere close in stats, rank, coursework, activities etc but she was admitted? Maybe she didn’t need financial aid which we did? Also, NU actually contacted her to apply? Just seems strange and not sure how the decisions were made. Disappointing but D has been lucky enough to been awarded a great package elsewhere.

Northeastern is need-blind for admission for non-international students. Because they full-out declare it, it’s pretty much a law. Like I’m pretty sure they’d get in a LOT of trouble if they went against it.

Well, the other aspect of the one from our school who was accepted with much lower everything was that she is a minority. She never visited either. We had been there twice from PA. She has no intention of going either.
