My first 2 years here at Cal weren't anything special. They weren't boring but they weren't exciting or had that college feel to them.

I just pretty much hang out with friends. But the thing is my friends don't really like to do much. I do have fun hanging out with them since we do have a lot in common, but the majority of the time we sit around and talk. My friends don't want to party or really experience the college life. So tbh I haven't been to a single party at my time here at Cal.

I think joining a fraternity would fix all this and make college more exciting for the remainder of my time at Cal.

The thing is, do fraternities allow juniors to pledge?

I will have plenty of time. I'm not majoring in anything that's too time consuming (poli sci), and I can be really social.

Some fraternities will and others won’t. I encourage you to visit lots of fraternities during rush week and mention that you are a junior. Those who are not interested will quickly give you the message. Then you can focus on places that want you.

Yeah, it depends on the fraternity. Your best bet is to just find out about the general culture of several fraternities just to see how they respond.

For example, my fraternity strongly prefers to bid freshmen/sophomores, but if a compatible junior (or even senior) comes along, he’ll likely get a bid.

I know junior transfers who joined fraternities. I don’t see why fraternities should limit junior students, though it would be understandable for the case of seniors. I think it is just rare to see juniors pledge because most juniors/seniors aren’t interested in the frat scene anymore…correct me if I’m wrong.

I kind of feel the same way. I dont know if I should join though. I have rushed before…but never joined. Sometimes I feel like it would be good to be in it so I can meet people and have people to go out as well but then I think about WHY these people would want to join in the first place and i think of a bunch of insecure people basically. I’ve also seen people in them doing things that are pretty immoral, AND i like to be independent at times so this would just make me known by a lot of people. I also wouldn’t want to live there so would it even be worth it?

My freshman year was fun but then now it’s boring again and i dont really have people to party with.
