Joining a sorority?

Is anyone thinking about rushing? I was thinking of which sorority to join. Any recommendations or a brief description to what some are?

I wouldn’t in your freshman year unless you’re realllllly not academically motivated

Yeah that is true. They take up a lot of time eh?

That’s what i heard. Not only that, in your first year you’re going to have activities left and right of you very often so it’ll probably be wise to set some alone time for study and stuff

Well, from what I HEARD, it’s harder to rush as a sophomore. If you have good time management, rushing shouldn’t be a problem. You could always rush in the winter… if you want to just get a feel of things in the fall.

If you feel that any organization is taking way too much of you time, you could always tell them about your situation. They’re not out there to make you fail college. lol.

I would talk to each of the sororities and find out what they are all about. Its different for everyone; some feel that its not their thing while others say it made their college experience. With the latter, it all depends on you. Each sorority is different and caters to unique interests and outlooks on life… I’m pretty sure you’ll find that right one.

Like I said, it all depends on you. I know of some people that had 4.0s their freshman year while pledging. Personally, I’m rushing while participating in ROTC and taking 21 units. I say look into it and don’t come to any decisions from just reading CC… walk into rush with a fresh and uninfluenced mind. You and you alone must make the decision.

Haha, depends if you are rushing Greek or Asian Greek frat/soroity.

If you are rushing Asian Greek, azncreazion, good luck because you will need it, I will guarantee you will not survive with 21 units, ROTC & rushing.

Just incase you didn’t know, Greek rush for sororities is from Oct 2-5, while Asian-interest rush is the week after.

Sept 30 or Oct 1 - Info Nights (only need to attend one)
Oct 2 - Open House Night
Oct 3 - Philanthropy Day
Oct 4 - Preference Night
Oct 5 - Bid Day

Definitely attend all the events to see what it’s all about. If you feel that it’s not for you, then just drop it. You don’t know if it’s for you unless you try it out. =)

hey yeah im a freshman and i want to rush this fall too. I talked to a few sororities and they said that only Frats rush at multiple times in the year. If you miss the fall rush, thats it for you until next year.

I really want to join one because i only have 3 classes, and since its freshman year, i’d love to get all the friends i can get. They also told me that they have study parties a lot and dont just party 24/7.

I really like pi beta phi, kappa kappa gamma, and delta gamma.
if you have a myspace/facebook look them up, most sororities have a page with pictures of their activities and what the girls who are in them look like :]

hope this helps!

anyone want to be rush buddies? =]
