I am considering joinning in the swim team of my cc. Do you think this will take too much of my time?? I will be taking only 15 units in this quater but am going to work for the student government. The main reason why I want to join the team is that I want to work out and have some fun. What do youguys think?? Should I just concentrate in academic stuff???

it's up to you.

If you want to work out and have some fun, why not join a local gym and do some workout or play some b-ball with your buddies? It's self-paced unlike school atheletic team plus you get your workouts and have lots of fun. And most of all, it's less time consuming. For swim team, you have mandatory meetings you have to do every week plus you gotta participate in some competition. It's lot of time consuming.

Local gym, it takes as long as you want it to be. 30 minutes. 3 hours. whatever you want. i recommend that if your reason is just to work out and have some fun.

Ummmm, one more thing to ask, does doing sports brings an advantage in the transfering process?? I think not, but just wanted to ask!! ^_^

also, (this is so random.. sorry!) I was put on the waitlist for one class I tried to register. I am, like, 12th person on the waitlist. Should I drop it or not???

If you are like a captain of that team, then yes, because it shows that your have some leadership ability.

However, if you are simply "one of the players" of the team, then it won't do you any good. What the Adcoms want to see is if you have developed some kind of leadership skill. Student Government is an excellent thing to show it.

Another thing they look for is whehter you ahve developed yourself for your career. In another word, they'd like to see you have done something related to your major

Ummmmmmmm, okay. That makes sense. So, no to the swim team and yes to the local gym!! Haha, thanks dhl3!!!

we where do you go to school?

foothill in los altos. why? do you go to that school?? bearclaw15?

no i go to de anza

people say de anza is better than foothill, since it has more classes. foothill, so far, seemed nice, but the parking lots are horribly far away from the classes which will give me not enough time to run to the classes when I am late.

how many units have you registered?? bearclaw15?

lol dude that may be true but its also true that in foothill the teachers seriously dont really care that much if you are late, anyway. and de anza parking is an absolute jungle anyway, so its not really much benefit..listen, man, de anza has some pretty sweet swimming classes that i'm not interested in talking about on this board so PM me if you have questions or somethin i guess
