So in my never ending quest of grad school ideas, I was looking into joint degree phd/jd or phd/mba programs. My interests lay somewhere in the cross hairs of political theory, international relations, and critical theory, so I was wondering what the investment required for such joint programs. While I would love to go into the academia, I figured I should be realistic and have some sort of contingency plan hence the joint degree. Any thought?

Lots of JD/PhD programs with political theory, and with IR. It also opens the door to legal academia, which is much more lucrative... Usually you apply separately to the two degree programs, often not in the same year - and people often get degrees from different schools (eg Yale Poli Sci, NYU Law, to name one example I know of...)
