joint english/education program @ columbia?

Is there such a thing at Columbia? I heard about it from a couple people...

I went to the website to try and find if it was true, and the closest thing I found to that was the education program at Barnard. Do you think this is possibly the joint program that I heard about?

Thank you in advance!

I don't know about the joint program, but you can attend CC and major in barnard departments, like women studies an architecture...

oh, so the joint program thing is offered at BARNARD, not at CC?

possibly, but you maybe able to do it through barnard even if you attend CC

Hmm... then would it be better if I applied to Barnard, not CC? I'm really torn between the two schools now.

Couldnt you just apply to both and see if you can actually get into both?

yeah, well, I've been hearing from a lot of people on this forum that those who apply to both Barnard and CC usually get rejected to both. It was on one of the Columbia threads...

look, why don't you do some research on whether you actually can do an education major in CC through barnard? Doesn't mean you have an advantage if you go to barnard, you have the same resources, and an arguably more prestegious school on your resume.

Lots of people do it through women's studies and the like.

Of course, if you want to go to a somewhat-girls' school, that's a different matter entirely.

"yeah, well, I've been hearing from a lot of people on this forum that those who apply to both Barnard and CC usually get rejected to both. It was on one of the Columbia threads."

this is non-sense, there's no grounding for it, I can't think of an intuitive reason for it, since they've got many similarities (location (duh), liberal culture, access to similar opportunities). A few people must have made horrible applicants who don't fit, and probably got rejected by both. As a matter of fact I have many friends who got into both, got into one and not the other, every combination you can think of.
