<p>Are jokes a bad idea on college apps? Are admissions officers more likely to find it gutsy and witty, or a turn-off/waste of their time? I'm thinking about Brown to be specific.</p>
<p>I would recommend staying away from jokes unless you’re a professional comedian or something - they can come off strangely on paper, especially when admissions people are bored and tired of reading bad applications.</p>
