Hey guys, I just read about this program. I heard that they select candidates during the admissions process without applicants knowing… i was just wondering whether they have any particular traits in terms of their qualifications (ie: are they all 4.0 GPA perfect SAT students?)

It's a mystery as to how they pick you. Basically, if your admissions rep like you enough, he/she puts your name up and then you get picked (I think). It's really random how they pick ppl.

From the people I know who are JWS, I would guess that a strong degree of intellectualism and scholarship should be evident in your application.

I'm not sure if they determine JWS students in the same manner that they do the students for the College honors programs (Benjamin Franklin and University Scholars). BFS students in the college are determined essentially by the number of AP's they've taken in high school and the grades they recieved on those test, along with certain academic standards (test scores, etc.). That same set of standards applies to University Scholars, but students in that program are expected to have conducted independent research of some kind in high school (labwork, etc.) and the number of AP's is not considered. I imagine JWS would function along similar lines, in which case the work you have done already is probably more important in determining your admission to the program than any essay's you'd write for your app; though of course, highlighting buisness experience, etc. would i'm sure help your chances.
