for this short essay, do you write as if you were already at stanford (like, oh i left your notes on top of the computer, lame ex i know) or if you were introducing yourself (like my name is so and so i like to blah blah blah). Much help is appreciated. thanks

the latter, I had this same mistake and had to rewrite the entire essay. i think they should have worded it more clearly

like i posted in another thread...

the admissions people dont actually want a letter to your "future roommate." just tell an experience that says something about you.

I didn't even introduce myself. I assumed the roommate already knew me and i went straight ahead and told him about a specific experience i had, which was walking through the door of the INS officer when i came to America.

leaf's description is what the admission rep told me..almost word for word.

haha yeah, the rep that was there when i visited made that pretty clear.

how did you start off the essay?

Yeah, I thought it was just kind of like a narrative

i don't think the adcoms will really care how you address the question. Just write it however you interpret the question and whatever topic you think best suits it.
